In the early 2000’s I was a musician living in Los Angeles. Between tours and commercial shoots (Don’t ask. Okay I put it in here, so obviously do ask at some point) I would visit my lovely girlfriend at college in Columbus, OH. One such visit a wallet was born as was our story. It was a simple design from reclaimed materials and through several insane strokes of luck we ended up in a few of the hardest accounts to land in the country as an accessories brand. This was not in the plans, although I have an obnoxious entrepreneurial backstory like everyone that does this kind of thing that involves me making wallets and selling them door to door out of a red wagon as a seven year old. And obviously I married the girlfriend.
We made the shift to retail in 2007 and have never looked back. I have always loved retail environments. I love the idea of being able to transport people into a a world where every element is designed expressly for the purpose of telling a story. At present we own Tigertree, a men’s and women’s lifestyle shop, and Cub Shrub, a store for 0-6 year olds that shares the design sensibilities of it’s older sibling.
I’ve been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, USA Today, Al Jazeera, American Express Open, and several other outlets and blogs. I am a passionate advocate for consumer experience. I believe we are entering the second golden age of brick and mortar retail and it’s all centered around returning the power to the customer. I cannot wait to watch the amazing developments of this industry unfold over the next few years and hope I get to unfold a few of my own. Thank you for taking the time to read what I have to say, it means the world to me.
